Don't Rent Relationships
If you earned the customer, you should own the relationship.
Relationships are one of the most valuable things a business can build.
They take years.
Trust is earned slowly. One customer at a time.
Which makes it strange that so many businesses willingly hand those relationships to platforms.
Communication moves there. Bookings move there. Customer history moves there.
Eventually, the platform becomes the relationship.
Leaving becomes difficult.
Not because the software is exceptional.
Because the relationship no longer belongs to the business.
I think that's dangerous.
If you earned the customer, you should own the relationship.
Software should strengthen connections.
Not stand in the middle of them.
Direct relationships matter. Trust matters. Ownership matters.
The businesses that thrive over the long term will be the ones that know their customers best.
Not the ones renting access to them.
