Platforms Are Tools, Not Landlords
Trust is a far better retention strategy than lock-in.
Good software gives businesses freedom.
Bad software creates dependence.
There's an important difference.
A tool helps you do your job better.
A landlord charges rent on something you already built.
Too many platforms have drifted from one to the other.
They start by solving a genuine problem.
Then they slowly become the place where your customers live.
Your messages. Your bookings. Your reviews. Your communication.
Everything runs through them.
Leaving becomes painful. Dependency grows.
I think software should do the opposite.
Software should make businesses stronger. More independent. More connected to their customers.
The best tools don't trap people.
They help them grow.
Trust is a far better retention strategy than lock-in.
Platforms should be useful.
Not unavoidable.
They should be tools.
Not landlords.
